Liverpool Football Club Sued by Agency over £15m BetVictor Deal

Premier League leaders and Champions Elect being sued by WinLink over Training Kit Sponsorship Deal

The runaway Premier League leaders and Premier League Champions elect Liverpool, are being sued over a £15m kit sponsorship deal concerning the Gibraltar based BetVictor, with brokers of the deal WinLink, claiming they are owed over £1.125m as a part of the deal.

BetVictor sponsored Liverpool football club’s training kit during the seasons 2016/17 to 2018/19, with a senior executive at WinLink being instrumental in putting the 2018/19 European Champions in touch with the sports betting and online casino operator.

A ‘remote’ High Court session will commence next Monday and a spokesperson for WinLink has stated that they were: “heavily engaged over a number of years in securing a successful introduction… and in assisting to bring about a sponsorship deal.”

While Winlink’s barrister Andrew Sutcliffe, QC added that WinLink: “spent significant time and effort in building the relationship between Liverpool and BetVictor.”

However, Liverpool refute the suggestion, with their barrister Robert Anderson, QC, stating that WinLink: “Had nothing to do with the execution of the £15 million training kit deal. Winlink is not entitled to commission because the introductions were made two-and-a-half years before the 2016 deal.”
