Kindred take eyes off Spain

The Kindred Group who own and operate online casinos 32Red and Unibet have made a commercial decision to not apply for a Spanish gaming license and instead to concentrate their efforts on other territories.

Recently Kindred owned Unibet was granted a license to set up a sportsbook and online casino operation in New Jersey in the United States. Also with Sweden continuing to be a lucrative marketplace, Kindred plan to concentrate their efforts there, as well as the UK.

A spokesperson for Kindred commenting on their decision to turn the attention away from the Spanish market, commented that a Spanish license application was: “subject to a hard deadline to finalise the platform for local regulation.” Something that they were not prepared to undertake at this time.

However, the spokesperson for Kindred did also comment: “Kindred remains fully committed to the group’s strategic objective of increasing its revenue from locally licensed markets and look forward to revisiting its Spanish licence application once the process opens again.”
